  1. Looking good. Any reason the front stretcher is mortised instead of lapped?

    1. Not really. If I were to do it again I would mortise the back legs too though.

    1. Maybe a little of both. I think the drawbored tenons pull the base into tension better.

    This is pretty much what I have in mind for a midi lathe stand. My version is basically a tall, stretched saw bench. I was planning on one set of legs splayed for stability, and the other vertical, to allow it to be close to a wall. After seeing your pictures, it looks like it should work just fine.
