I used to do a fair amount of art and design work and during the past few months I’ve been thinking about what it would look like for The Daily Skep to have a new logo. I immediately set about trying to design one myself, but I wasn’t getting anywhere and soon had the revelation that this was probably best left to someone with more talent and some distance from the subject matter.
I’m glad for that shred of self control (or was it self-doubt?) because it lead me to seek out the services of Jordan Thomas of Jaybird Design, who is not only an incredibly talented artist, but a pleasure to work with. Her creativity and professionalism are evident and I could not be more excited with the final product. If you’re looking for design work (or a new tattoo) she comes highly recommended.
Here’s what she came up with:
The latin motto “Non Sibi, Sed Aliis” translates as “not for self, but for others (or all)” and I think that captures the heart of what we’re trying to do here by creating an ongoing conversation around craft and community. Although I do much of the writing, I hope that it is evident that this blog isn’t all about me. It is about all of us.
I think Jordan’s work is fantastic, and I’m looking into the possibility of having some t-shirts made if anyone’s interested. Details will be forthcoming about that, but feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested.
